Maurice Moon has been someone that I would consider a contagious leader. He has been serving in our youth ministry for about a year now, and he has been so encouraging to any youth student that walks through our doors. Maurice is a breath of fresh air with the way he conducts himself- calm, loving, cheerful, and honoring.

I’ve seen students who show up never smiling leave with a smile on their faces because of Maurice’s consistent leadership in their lives. It’s remarkable to witness and an honor to have on my team. He is humble yet possesses so much wisdom. Students basically line up to be in his group, not because of him but because of how he exudes the love of Jesus. Maurice will never try to claim praise; he always gives glory to God and truly shows the calling to ministry in his life on a regular basis.

As I look back on a very difficult season for the Upper Merion Football Team, just one win and quite a few injuries, I can’t help but consider the
bright spots that were still part of the season in 2024.

One of those bright spots was the voluntary team chapel that took place every game day. Coach Maurice Moon led that chapel as the team’s Character Coach/Chaplain. Coach Moon did a great job of using the difficulties and trials of
the season to teach the young men how they could grow from that, but he also was able to use Biblical principles to show how they could spiritually mature from their experiences playing football.

In addition to his great teaching style, Coach Moon was also a caring and invested member of the Upper Merion Football Team. He made a point to get to know each player that came to chapel on a personal level. He then grew that relationship to further develop each young man. Coach Moon truly has the gift to motivate athletes through his encouragement and mentorship process.

I am already looking forward to the 2025 football season, and especially to Coach Moon’s continued involvement in the Upper Merion Football Program.

I had the pleasure of serving alongside Coach Maurice Moon as a co-facilitator with a Young Adult Ministry (YAM) group, where his leadership, resources, teachings, and training profoundly impacted the young adults. His dedication to fostering spiritual growth and creating a safe, inclusive, and nonjudgmental environment was evident in every interaction.

Coach Moon consistently encouraged open dialogue, deepened our understanding of faith, and inspired us to live out our beliefs authentically.

He brought wisdom, practical guidance, and a heart that deeply resonated with our group. His commitment to empowering others left a lasting impression, enriching both our faith journeys and sense of community.

 This past football season we were blessed to have coach Moon serve as our character coach. Having a character coach is very important to me as a football coach, football is about so much more than just playing a sport we love, football teaches athletes life lessons that they will take with them into the world beyond sports. It is important to me that my athletes have an opportunity to be exposed to the greatest lesson you can learn, and that is who Jesus Christ is, and what he means to us in life and after our lives are over. Coach Moon has been amazing with our athletes, he has formed a great bond with the athletes that attend chapel before games each game. Coach Moon is sharing the gospel, and he is sharing his personal testimony and it is having a major impact on our athletes. I want to thank coach Moon for all he has done thus far, and we look forward to how God is going to use him in future seasons to come.
